The realization of the multiple activities carried out in partnership with the Polish people, the Polish origins of some local citizens, but also notes from history made possible the creation, inside the House of Culture from Sculeni, of the Polish Cultural Center. It will be officially opened in the spring of this year. „Being in a very good cooperation relationship with our Polish friends, we requested the creation of this centre and thus obtained the establishment of the Polish Cultural Center", says Vasile Casian, mayor of Sculeni village, after which he made a foray into history, making Let us understand why this particular centre was built at Sculei: „On the bridge from Sculeni, a team of Polish researchers passed looking for the shortest commercial route from the Baltic Sea to the Black Sea." Or, the connection with Poland has deeper roots, and hence the close relationship with these people.

„In the year of the pandemic, our international activities were significantly reduced. However, thanks to supporting from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Warmiansko-Mazurian Regional Council, it was possible to set up in the west of Moldova - in the village of Sculeni - the Polish Center for Miedzy - a centre serving the local Polish community. As part of the project, we carried out renovation works in the donated rooms, we bought furniture and computer equipment. A well-stocked Polish library was found in the centre - I bought a few books, received them for free from many publishers and individuals. There is a Polish minority centred around the Catholic church in Sculeni, where the priest is a priest. Krzysztof Polka. He has many ideas for the operation of the centre - we rely on his invention and activity. People without Polish roots involved in setting up the centre, but very friendly with Poland - the Moldovan project coordinator Liudmila Ursatiev and the commune of Sculeni Vasile Casian”, writes the Polish Jaromir Krajewski.

Note: The targeted project provided for the rehabilitation of several spaces inside the House of Culture, which were thermally insulated, and the rooms were equipped with furniture and bathrooms. The rehabilitated spaces will offer access to various services, both for children and for adults. Meetings and activities will be organized within the Center, and the space for the library offers a new perspective of the classic library, where a more pronounced emphasis will be placed to offer the comfort felt "at home”, a cafe bar and a portion of the museum to show the connections between the people of Sculen and Poland”, Vasile Casian also underlined. According to the mayor, volunteers from Poland are expected to come to the Polish Cultural Center to carry out activities with people who will be interested in studying the Polish language, culture and history. „The investment from the Polish government was about 1 million 300 thousand lei, and the mayor's office of Sculeni commune offered the amount of about 100 thousand lei,” said Ludmila Ursatiev, head of the Economy Department in Ungheni.

It is worth mentioning that this partnership between Sculeni and Poland, attracted many investments, being fully exploited by the mayor's office. Sculeni City Hall, being in partnership with the Polish people since 2015, managed to attract Polish investments and benefit from them. An example is the reconstruction of the Wholesale - Industrial Market in the commune. In 2019, thanks to funding from Poland, a leisure project was carried out on the banks of the Prut. It consists of the construction of access stairs to the Prut, the installation of gazebos to create optimal conditions for rest.
