Moldova - the country in Eastern Europe that won the most medals in the Mundus Vini contest

The great international competition of the best wine producers - Mundus Vini, was a success for the winemakers in the country. Moldova was 7th in the number of medals, becoming the country in Eastern Europe that obtained the most medals - 72.

According to Locals, the Republic of Moldova has overtaken famous wine-producing countries such as Argentina (49 medals), Chile (48), Australia (69), New Zealand (29). Of the neighbours and post-Soviet states, the following were noted: Georgia - 34 medals, Armenia - 20 medals, Romania - 17, Russia - 14.
Mundus Vini is one of the most prestigious competitions in the world. The tastings are organized blind, the jury consists of oenologists, exceptional sommeliers, wine industry experts and journalists who write about wine.

The wines are evaluated on a 100-point scale by the International Organization of Viticulture and Winemaking (OIV) and, to date, no wine has received the maximum number of points.
Wines that get 95 or more points get Grand Gold, those that get at least 90 points get Gold, and those that get at least 85 points - Silver. No more than 40% of the samples in each category receive prizes.

Moldovan wines were awarded 2 medals - Grand Gold, 35 medals - Gold and 35 - Silver.

In the 26th edition of the Mundus Vini International Wine Competition, 7,500 samples from 54 countries competed.
